How to Create AI Videos with Seedance
A practical walkthrough of the Seedances studio — choosing a model, writing prompts, using references, and managing credits.
This guide walks through the Seedances AI Video Studio from first prompt to finished clip. No API keys, no local GPU — just a browser and a Seedances account.
Step 1: Pick the right model
Open Create and compare models before you generate:
| Model | Best for | | --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | | Seedance 2.0 | Balanced quality, up to 4K, text / image / reference modes | | Seedance 2.0 Fast | Faster iteration at 480p or 720p | | Seedance 2.0 Mini | Lower credit cost for drafts and social clips | | Seedance 1.5 Pro | Cinematic camera control, native audio and lip sync |
Switching models may change available durations, resolutions, and prompt length limits — the studio truncates or warns automatically so you stay within each model's cap.
Step 2: Choose a generation mode
- Text — Start from scratch. Be specific about subject, camera move, lighting, and mood. Put spoken lines in
"quotes"for lip-synced audio on supported models. - Image — Upload one or more stills. The model animates motion while preserving the key composition.
- Reference — Attach character sheets, product shots, short video clips, or audio when the model allows. Reference mode uses a shorter prompt limit — focus on motion and scene direction, not re-describing every asset.
Step 3: Set duration, resolution, and aspect ratio
Longer clips and higher resolutions consume more credits. The studio shows an estimated credit total before you hit Generate. Tips:
- Draft at 480p or 720p, then re-run at higher resolution once the motion feels right.
- Match aspect ratio to your deliverable (16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels/TikTok).
- Enable audio only when the model supports it and you need dialogue or ambient sound.
Step 4: Generate, review, and iterate
After generation completes, preview the clip in the studio. If something drifts:
- Tighten the prompt — one clear camera move beats a paragraph of adjectives.
- Add or swap reference images to lock identity or product look.
- Shorten duration if motion gets chaotic on complex scenes.
Every completed job appears in History with status, model, and timestamp so you can compare versions over time.
Credits and billing
Billing scales with model × duration × resolution (and audio when enabled). Failed generations refund automatically. Subscribe monthly or yearly, or buy a credit pack for one-off projects — see Pricing FAQ for plan details.
